The Expert Council on Addiction Treatment is a consultative body to the Minister of Health and supports the implementation of his mandate under Chapter Seven of the Law on Control of Narcotic Substances and Precursors related to the treatment of addictions.
The Expert Council on Addiction Treatment discusses and gives opinions on:
1. Guidelines and priorities in the field of addiction treatment;
2. Draft standards of good practice in the treatment of addictions and proposals for changes to the current standards of good practice in the treatment of addictions;
3. Draft regulations in the field of addiction treatment;
4. New methods and treatment programmes;
5. Proposals for inclusion of new medicinal products containing narcotic substances (opioid agonists and agonist-antagonists) in the list of used for the treatment of addictions in treatment programmes with agonists and agonist-antagonists;
6. Inclusion in treatment programmes of individuals who do not meet the criteria set out in the standards of good practice in the treatment of addictions;
7. Clinical, professional, ethical issues and issues related to the application of standards of good practice and the work of treatment programmes
